Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged, capping off one of pop culture's most followed love stories.
The couple shared the happy news on Instagram on August 26, posting photos of the proposal. Swift captioned the post with a playful and fitting message, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," followed by a firecracker emoji.
The post also showcased the stunning ring Kelce helped design with Kindred Lubeck of Vogue, who confirmed that the ring, designed with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, features a brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting.
Swift’s engagement post also featured her song "So High School." The track, about a romance that makes her feel like a teenager again, has a lyric many fans believe is a nod to Kelce: "You know how to ball/I know Aristotle."
Their relationship began after a now-famous friendship bracelet attempt. In July 2023, Kelce revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had tried—and failed—to give Swift a bracelet with his phone number during her Kansas City Eras Tour stop. The story went viral, and by late September, Swift was seen cheering him on at a Chiefs game.
From that moment on, their whirlwind romance became a media sensation. The couple’s most public moments include Swift celebrating with Kelce on the field after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl and Kelce joining her onstage during her Eras. Among their many public outings, Kelce notably joined Swift on stage during her Eras Tour for the song "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart."
The couple has been open about their relationship in past interviews. In her 2023 Time "Person of the Year" interview, Swift said of their public romance, "We’re showing up for each other, other people are there, and we don’t care...we’re just proud of each other." Kelce shared a similar perspective in his August 2025 GQ interview, noting, "When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love."
Most recently, Kelce helped Swift announce her new album, "The Life of a Showgirl," on his podcast. The episode gave fans an intimate look into their relationship, including Swift's reaction to the original friendship bracelet story that started it all.
