77th Emmys Celebrate Historic Firsts and a Record-Breaking Young Star

HBO's medical drama
The Pitt, Apple TV+'s Hollywood satire The Studio, and Netflix's psychological miniseries Adolescence were the top winners at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, a ceremony marked by historic victories and heartfelt speeches.

Netflix's Adolescence, a drama about a 13-year-old boy accused of murder, dominated the miniseries category. It secured wins for best series, supporting actress Erin Doherty, and 15-year-old star Owen Cooper, who made history as the youngest supporting actor to win in his category. "It means so much to me, my family, and people back home," Cooper said backstage.

The Hollywood satire The Studio, co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, also had an impressive night, picking up several awards for its first season. Rogen joked backstage that carrying all his trophies was "getting embarrassing."

The evening also saw Trammell Tillman become the first Black man to win an Emmy for supporting actor in a drama series. In another emotional moment, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert won in the talk show category, with his fellow nominees rallying behind him following his show's recent cancellation.

Host Nate Bargatze kept the ceremony lively with a running gag, promising to dock his own charity donation if winners' acceptance speeches ran too long.
